Yanuell had never played Monopoly before. He was quite good and enjoyed the game. Unfortunately, cards are missing from the game.
Christopher played academic games with a classmate. Skills worked on included spelling, concentration, memory recall and reading. Socialization and fair game play were also a focus.
Today Yanuell and I began by reading a story about dinosaurs in Spanish. Then practiced math skills by playing Robbin’ Eggs. This is a math game that required Yanuell to do math equations in his head.
Sub: Academic games. Gracyn and I played several rounds of Mancala. We read the rules and refreshed our memories on how to play. Gracyn learned very quickly and ended up winning 2 out of 3 games. We then went outdoors for some fresh air and swings in the hammock.
Gracyn began class with a couple of games of Bingo Math with other students. We then read a chapter of The Knight at Dawn and started working on chapter questions.
Today, Gracyn played a board game that challenges both listening and reading comprehension. This was a different version of one we had played before and required Gracyn to not just listen to the story but also make connections. To make sure Gracyn is able to successfully play the game, I help her with reading and parsing out the parts of the story.
Gracyn played a short game of Monopoly and then moved onto using sculpting clay to create a figure of herself. She got quite detailed, for example, adding fingers to the hands.
