I setup Jess's AP exams at Methacton High School. Jess was a little apprehensive about taking them. I spoke with her mother and she was able to reassure her there is nothing to loose by taking them. We also discussed her plans for next year. She told Cindy she would like to go to Wharton. Cindy told her she will need to take pretty much all AP courses next year and given her GPA, test scores, and her equestrian experience she is a "competitive" candidate. She asked about how to demonstrate leadership and I pointed her in the direction of starting a community service project related to the equestrian community.

We did a review of the last two change-of-variable problems that we've worked on. Then we switched gears and combined a bit of history, physics, and using art to capture emotions along with a sense of time and place. We discussed wwI followed by WWII with their horrendous casualty rates, the development and use of nuclear weapons and the deep-seated paranoia of the nineteen-fifties. The we watched a uTube clip of the closing 12 minutes of "On the Beach."
