We reviewed the definition of criminal numbers in a function. We then used several example problems in which we found critical numbers and then evaluated the function at the critical numbers and at the interval's endpoints and compared the results to ascertain maximum and minimum.

We continued our discussions from yesterday of extrema of functions on open and closed intervals. We segued from there to the definition of critical numbers of a function and reviewed conditions where maxima and minima exist.
