We went through drills in each of the sections to practice taking the exam. She has not done any practice problems or studying, so I am doing what I can for her to practice the testing on the ACT.
We went through timed drills in each of the sections.

There were many distractions today. There was a fire alarm that went off for a certain amount of time, as well as her constantly interrupting about a boyfriend. She is not able to focus.
Since Anamaria is starting to study so close to the date of the actual test, we are doing drills for each section. Today, we started with the English section. I timed her while she did sets of 15-16 questions (I gave her approximately 10 minutes), then we went over the problems that she got wrong and why. With each drill, she was decreasing the number of questions that she got wrong. However, she definitely needs to practice at home. Then, we moved into the math section, and went through some practice problems, and some basic concepts that she forgot that are necessary for math.
I gave her practice to go home with, and I hope that she brings it back tomorrow.

Anamaria has not studied at all for the ACT. She took a workshop at Score at the Top almost a year ago and has not looked at it since then (this is what she told me). I worry about her score because I see many weaknesses without enough time to fill them. We will keep drilling and practicing but she waited to long to come. I advised against about a month ago. Her mother didn't listen, and believes that this will be her last time taking it.
We went through some practice problems dealing with core concepts on the test and practiced some basic tricks for standardized exams such as the SAT or the ACT. There were several concepts that she either forgot from the past, or hasn't seen which we had to go through. She understood as I explained them to her (and wrote her notes), however, she needs more practice. Given that the test is this Saturday, the only thing we can do now is practice the problems to start recognizing what they are asking for right away, and practicing the tricks.

She was upset today initially due to arguments with her parents, so we went through some of that first.
Discuss The Book Thief and Curious Incident of the Dog at Nighttime
Anna Maria had a few questions when she came in, but we basically spent the session going over the important details of the stories. I gave her basic outlines to what I thought would be the main essay questions for each. She wanted to talk about the other books, but I told her only had time to prepare for two.
Anna Maria and I reviewed many topics to help her prepare for her upcoming exam in World History including the famous persons, events, battles, and political and social structures, concepts, and geography of the years from 1914-1945.

Anna expressed right away the topics that she needed to review. She asked me to tutor her the next day and I accepted it. The next day we must practice with linear concepts and triangle properties.
