After her long awaited exam and pending graduation, Emma was given the opportunity to watch Selma, a documentary about the fight for African American voting rights during the Civil Rights movement. She is fascinated with this particular historical period, and so we watched the film in class to augment her understanding.
To give Emma a break from her test preparation, we watched a Ted Talk entitled "The Politics of Shame." Here, Monica Lewinsky discussed the trauma/shame she experienced after her affair with President Clinton went public. Emma was asked to summarize Lewinsky's three major arguments and take a stance on their validity.
Today, Emma was given several different AP Multiple choice passages. She was timed on each individual reading to gauge whether or not she is keeping pace for the exam. On the whole, Emma is working through our strategies well.
Emma and I went over her course projects discussing the high points, and also areas where there was room for improvement. We also spent a little time revisiting probability by computing the probability of Yahtzee rolls.
