She has a test coming up on Friday, so we started to go over her review packet from class. She has to slow down on some of her movements, and double check some of the mistakes that she makes often (derivative of a constant is 0, implicit differentiation). With some more practice she should be fine. We will see each other tomorrow night also.
Today, Erin and I continued to work through the problems in her review assignment. We were able to cover all of the topics and Erin expressed that she was feeling confident. I reminded her to practice in order to solidify.
Erin brought a review assignment which her teacher had assigned as a tool for preparing for the upcoming test. We worked through the problems, and discovered that most of them were pre-calculus algebra recall skills for which she need only to refresh her memory and practice.
I illustrated and explained what the first derivative tells us about the slope of a curve at a specific input value. We reviewed the concept of a function, and other Precalculus skills such as multiplying two binomials, substitution, function composition, and simplifying a complex fraction.
