Lesson Outline
Arianna practiced using context clues to define unknown vocabulary, and she identified coordinating conjunctions on the Reading Eggspress website. After recalling the events in chapter 13, we read chapter 14 and part of chapter 15 in "City of Ember." The rising events in the story have brought us to a very exciting and fast-paced part of the plotline. Every page revealed more of the secrets hidden by The Builders, however, even with this new information, it seems that Doon and Lina face more obstacles before they can share their news.

Lesson Comments
She's openly admitted she copes with her emotions with food and eating. I've tried to help her see other options and ways to experience her emotions without eating, and I'm hoping these little videos are helping a bit.

Lesson Outline
Arianna recalled the important choice Lina made yesterday in refusing to accept the stolen goods from her friend Lizzie. We already knew that Lina is a responsible child, and now we have added honesty to her traits. As we read further in the story, Arianna stopped at pivotal points to make predictions that all proved to be completely accurate. She explains her thoughts and uses examples from the book to support her ideas. We are nearing the climax of the story and anticipating a 'bright' ending for our characters.
