The session was spent reviewing the 20 vocabulary words. The synonym and antonym section was completed. Sentence completion was started.

Hunter read the step 4 words. He fluently charted both real and nonsense words. Prior to the written part of the lesson Hunter practiced spelling words using the syllable cards.

We talked about independent and dependent clauses, using commas coordinating conjunctions to connect independent clauses, comma splices and run-on sentences, verb agreement, parallelism, and tense, noun and pronoun agreement, and pronoun ambiguity and case.

We covered Ch. 5-1 Rates of Change and Slope, 5-2 Direct Variation.

Discussed the historical context of discoveries related to gravity and gravitational potential energy. Described the pendulum as a device that periodically interconverts equivalent quantities of gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy.

Using kinematics equations, practiced isolating and solving for variables to find velocity, acceleration and displacement.

Practiced physics problem-solving related to finding an unknown force, mass or acceleration. Worked to develop intuition regarding the linkage of physics equations, real-world events and physics intuition. Prepped for first law quiz.

We reviewed the important characteristics of the Roman Republic and the challenges that paved the way for rise of Julius Caesar and his grandnephew Octavian, princeps.
