Lesson Comments
He's not paying attention to the readings when he reads at home. When I ask him, he says he did the readings, but he can't answer very basic questions.
Today, Hunter and I discussed chapters 4 and 5, which he read for homework, and read chapter 6 together. We added vocabulary words such as meticulous and scrupulous to his list, and we did some critical thinking exercises when I asked him to think not only of the details that are given to us about this new world in the novel, but also what is LACKING in this new world--we identified lack of variety in family units, language, culture, skin color, etc. He wrote a journal entry as a summary of the previous chapters and will continue reading the next two chapters for our meeting on Monday.
I graded Ch. 2-1 and 2-2 HW and we talked about the problems he missed. We covered Ch. 2-3 Solving Multi-Step Equations and Ch. 2-4 Solving Equations With Variables on Both Sides. I assigned HW from the latter.
We learned about the three significant eras of ancient Egypt. Hunter left his homework at home. Tomorrow, he needs to bring in both yesterday's and today's assignments.
