Gracyn worked on a few enrichment worksheets that correlated with the last week's lessons. On the first sheet, Gracyn used pictures to find a ten then added the remaining to find the sum. The second worksheet required Gracyn to match 2 different addition sentences with the same sum to the correct answer. Finally, Gracyn had to take an addition problem and write two different ways to make a ten to find the sum.
Today Gracyn did a lesson on weight. She did a lab on what sinks and floats. She gathered items from around the school and predicted if they would sink or float. She then did the experiment and recorded her results. We discussed how things have more or less density than water and why that would make some sink and others float.
We went to the library to check out our books for the week. Gracyn made some good choices of books that were just right for her. She read "A Pet for Dragon" independently and we read " Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" for read aloud. Our main strategy focus was plot details. For word work we played a game with her word wall words and practiced blending cvcc words. She wrote sentences using 5 of her word wall words.
Princess Belle began our lesson by warming up with her favorite pieces, "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "The Knuckle Song" both solo and duet. Her highness then played through a new piece entitled "Halloween". She then gave her royal attention to some pieces played by her humble subject, the piano teacher, and learned the term "minor" in reference to the "scary" quality of the songs. Also reviewed today were the white key groups of A-B-C and C-D-E, finger numbers, half notes, and proper hand position befitting royalty.
Gracyn enjoyed a Halloween Party at school today. During our hour she spent time dancing, making treats with Betsy in the kitchen, and painting sugar skulls with Angelina.
Today Gracyn made peanut butter spider cookies. We mixed together all of the ingredients for the cookies. After they were done baking we placed a Hershey Kiss in the middle for the spider's body and added candy eyes. For the finishing touch, Gracyn piped on 8 chocolate legs.
design fundamentals. Gracyn is currently working on a new painting of a mermaid with a "tissue" paper background. She will also start on her "color" theory classes.

good class session. She is working so nicely on all her current projects.
Gracyn read "Clifford and the Grouchy Neighbors" for her shared reading today, our focus was on decoding strategies. We started the book "The Velveteen Rabbit" as our read aloud and talked about the theme of loving something enough that it becomes real to you. We played a game with her word wall words, still working on 'once' and 'know'. Reading Eggs lesson 59, double letters and words ending in 'y'.
Happy Halloween!! We had a fun day today. I started by painting Gracyn's face to match her beautiful Belle costume. She was very excited and showed everyone at school. Together, we played a game of Crazy Faces. This card game is much like crazy 8's, having to match suits, numbers, or crazy vegetable faces to win. Gracyn then completed a doubles fact Halloween worksheet.
