Today, Samantha and I researched and listened to selections from the musical "The Descendants" - a musical about the children of Disney villains. We also made musical flashcards and reviewed note names and note values.
"Moody Cow Meditation" book; clay yoga figures; practice splits
Lesson Outline
We read "Moody Cow Meditation" and talked about the meditation jars we will make next week. We then tried to make Yogi figures with clay, however the clay was too hard. Sam was good at problem solving and figured out a way to make the clay work (somewhat). We also did leg stretches and warm-ups for splits, and then practiced splits with the apparatus in the dojo.
Samantha began the session with a review of words (both real and nonsense) from step 2. She charted 15/15 real words and 14/15 nonsense words. For the written part of the post test, Samantha spelled 13/15 real words and 5/5 nonsense words correctly. Step 3 will be introduced at the next session.
Samantha began the session with a game of multiplication war. She completed a partial products multiplication problem. Several compatible numbers division problems were solved (orally). The remainder of the session was spent solving word problems and using the long division method for solving division problems.
Samantha and I began our session today with a series of colors review games. We played memory and PESCA. Next, we began to design our own review board game. The design is very similar to Candyland in the sense that the board game is made of colors which each player advances to based on a color card that they draw from the pile. We will complete this board game next class.

Science:
Systems of the body - The circulatory system -
We started to place veins and arteries, represented with blue and red yarn, on the paper Sam. She suggested we draw small veins to show that the vessels reduce in size and reach every inch of the body. This class was interrupted by an extreme weather alert, forcing us to move to a protected area for 45 minutes.
