Max was absent today during the morning session .During the afternoon session, he placed a character list in his notes, and we reviewed the relationship between the play's major characters. I also placed on the board a topic sentence that we will develop into an essay when we complete the play : The supernatural pervades the play,Macbeth. We began a list of examples that will serve as an essay outline which Max also placed in his notes. We quickly reviewed the plot of Act I, scene ii. For homework, complete reading modern English translation of Act I .We will then study certain passages in the original Shakespearean .

Moving Continents – Max learned that a scientist named Alfred Wegener investigated whether Earth’s continents had always been in the same place or if they had moved. He proposed that all continents were once part of a supercontinent called Pangaea and over time the Pangaea broke apart and pieces drifted to the their present locations. He proposed the continental drift hypothesis suggesting that the continents are in constant motion on the surface of the Earth. Then we discussed Wegener’s evidence to support his hypothesis and learned that he was missing the forces that caused the continents to move. Max learned that when scientists were able to map the ocean floor they discovered the evidence to support continental drift.
