Max left early today - before my session.
I used the time to communicate with Nicole regarding his education plan and to plan other lessons.
Since we haven't had a lesson with Max for a year and a half, we were having conversations about London, his new school, friends, his use of the Russian language with his friends as a secret language, etc.
We played the Word game that Max loves and asked to play! I was very pleasantly surprised at Max's vocabulary! Very productive and fun lesson...!
Max and I developed a plan for the scholastic achievements we hope he will accomplish while at the Batt School.
We opened up the assignments sections of each of his classes from his home school.
We sent messages to the teachers where appropriate. While the teachers may currently be on break, we believe our messages will a) help to document the issues that we were having, b) communicate our desire to do the work to the teachers c) allow them the possibility of replying if they happen to check their messages during the break.
We will use this information to help Max complete all the assignments from his homeschool and to transition smoothly to completing classes here when his homeschool commences again.
In the time that we had together, Max and I reviewed the parts of the body from the class prior. I then taught him some more parts. He drew a diagram of the body and labeled the parts.
I taught him the phrase “Simon says...”. We quickly reviewed the verb tocar.
Max and I watched a video about the company IDEO. IDEO is one of the top product development firms in the country. The computer mouse is one of the many disruptive products for which they are responsible.
Max learned about the process of product development and some of the innovative ways that IDEO attacks the products that they undertake. Together we identified the tools that IDEO utilizes. We did a brief introduction to rapid prototyping and used specific examples from the video.
Max chose a quote that he found particularly powerful and we typed it up to put on his wall.
We also discussed and started to prototype some of the ideas that Max generated.
