Substitute Assignment for Dr. Dan. Period 5.
Updated Comment : I want to add that at the beginning of class Ben politely said "Can you not talk?" ... I said okay.
Ben had already finished his activity. He had difficulty with one of the assignments. We both agreed it would be best for him to wait for clarification from Mr. Doran
Ben was assigned to name hydrocarbons according to the IUPAC naming system. Ben was also assigned to draw the structure of hydrocarbons such as ethane, propene, 2-butene, methane, ethyne, 3, 3-dimethyl pentane, 2, 3-dimethyl pentane, and lastly, n-butyne. Ben will ask Mr. Dan questions about problems that he did not understand when he returns. Work was collected and given to the front office.

I was a substitute from 8:13am-8:58am. Sub. plans were provided.
Use molecular models to build and name cyclohexane and cyclopropane. Have Ben construct a benzene molecule, C6H6, just from the formula using the molecular models. He had sufficient time to try a few models.

Ben Amazed me. He would not quit until he has the molecule constructed.
Use molecular models to construct propene and butene. Once constructed, indicate how to determine the position of the double bonds. Construct both models of ethene, the cis and trans model, and explain how and why they differ. Show why there is no rotation around the double bond.
