Chris reviewed the different methods of seed dispersal: wind, water, animal and seed pod bursting. We viewed images of each method and discussed. He drew pictures of seed dispersal by wind, water and animal.

Aiden completed the lab "Mirrored View" which used a laser pointer, mirror and protractor to reflect laser beams from a mirror at the exact angle but going in the opposite direction. He measured the angles with the protractor and recorded his data. He read about the law of reflection and virtual images. He interpreted diagrams of these terms and we discussed.

Colson was absent today. I took the period to lesson plan.

Aiden watched the video "Glowing Eyes" and completed Encounter the Phenomenon "Why are the African wild cat's eyes glowing?" He recorded his observations. He watched the lab video for the lab "Mirrored View" and we collected materials to complete the lab on reflected angles.

Chris completed the lab "Blowing in the Wind" where he created 3 different types of "wings" for lima beans in order to model wind seed dispersal. He recorded his data and we analyzed. He read the text "Seeds on the Move" discussing wind, water and animal seed dispersal. We discussed.

Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She watched a video about a baby woodpecker, and we discussed how it lived and survived.

Aiden completed the How Light Travels Review questions. He diagrammed and wrote definitions for transparent, opaque and translucent rays. He sketched the path that light waves travel to enable him to see a chair.

Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She wrote her ABC's, her counting by 2's numbers, and her calendar talk activity. She assembled her paper dolls for re-telling the sequencing of the story, "The Mitten."

Teddy completed his interactive calendar. He completed his daily sentence puzzle. He read and discussed all his vocabulary words. He watched a video about a baby woodpecker, and discussed how they live and survive. He learned about a landscape architect.

Colson read about artificial selection and selective breeding. We discussed how dogs and pigeons are selectively bred. He completed the 3-Dimensional Thinking "Explain how multiple causes can influence the traits of an organism." He watched a video on artificial selection and how peaches are artificially selected for.
