Chris reviewed the different methods of seed dispersal: wind, water, animal and seed pod bursting. We viewed images of each method and discussed. He drew pictures of seed dispersal by wind, water and animal.
Aiden completed the lab "Mirrored View" which used a laser pointer, mirror and protractor to reflect laser beams from a mirror at the exact angle but going in the opposite direction. He measured the angles with the protractor and recorded his data. He read about the law of reflection and virtual images. He interpreted diagrams of these terms and we discussed.
Aiden watched the video "Glowing Eyes" and completed Encounter the Phenomenon "Why are the African wild cat's eyes glowing?" He recorded his observations. He watched the lab video for the lab "Mirrored View" and we collected materials to complete the lab on reflected angles.
Chris completed the lab "Blowing in the Wind" where he created 3 different types of "wings" for lima beans in order to model wind seed dispersal. He recorded his data and we analyzed. He read the text "Seeds on the Move" discussing wind, water and animal seed dispersal. We discussed.
