Colson watched a video on Peter and Rosemary Grant and their work studying the Galapagos finches. He read about adaptations: structural adaptation, behavioral adaptation and functional adaptation. I asked comprehension questions. He wrote an explanation for why opposable thumbs are a beneficial adaptation in primates. He began the lab "Survival of the Fittest" where he designed a camouflaged moth.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed a Scholastic News Magazine about how Martin Luther King was a hero. She watched a Brain pop video about Martin Luther King's life. She put together her daily sentence puzzle.
Colson read the scientific text "Natural Selection" and together we summarized it. He read the text "Peter and Rosemary Grant" which discussed how researchers Peter and Rosemary Grant have studied Darwin's Finches over the past 40 years and observe natural selection in action. He watched a video on Darwin's Finches.
Aiden watched two videos on the electromagnetic spectrum and completed the Investigation "Across the Spectrum" where he filled in a table listing each wave's wavelength, frequency, energy level and an example of its use.
Aiden completed the claim "Light is similar to and different from mechanical waves, like sound, by..." He watched a video explaining light and we discussed.
Chris learned about plant reproductive anatomy. We discussed the different parts: pistil, stigma, style, ovary, egg, stamen, anther, filament and petals. He watched a video of a bumble bee buzz pollenating a flower. He drew a diagram of plant reproductive anatomy.
