Teddy completed his interactive calendar. He read and discussed his vocabulary words. He put together his daily sentence puzzle. He worked on a Venn diagram comparing a Barn Owl to a Typical Owl.
Colson completed the How Traits Change quiz. We discussed the environmental causes of mutations. He wrote a story about a superhero who underwent a mutation caused by x-ray radiation. He completed Lesson 2 Launch "Tree Snails" where he brainstormed how variations get passed from one generation to the next. He completed Encounter the Phenomenon "Nature's Copycats" where he researched and drew how and why a California Mountain kingsnake copies a coral snake.
PJ took a science assessment about the mass/matter cycle. It was comprised of nine (9) multiple choice questions and one (1) open-ended question about the cycle of carbon and oxygen. PJ completed it well within the time period allotted. He was encouraged to review and elaborate more in his response to the final open-ended question but felt he had answered it sufficiently.

I subbed for Teresa this morning, Monday, 12/16/24, from 11:21 - 12:06.
Chris learned about different types of birds nests and how they are constructed. He created an illustrated booklet showing the different nests and how they are made: bald eagle nest, piping plover nest, Australian brushturkey nest, and common tailorbird nest.
Aiden explored the PhET Interactive Simulation Wave Interference which models sound, water and light waves. He manipulated the amplitude and frequency. He observed a graph of the waves.
Colson read the passage "When Asthma Attacks" which discussed how a mutation on a gene on chromosome 1, and environmental factors, cause asthma. He independently reread each paragraph and orally summarized. We discussed. He wrote a paragraph summarizing the passage.
Jason used puppets and his Lego pieces to do some drama. We went outside to look at the flowers and didn't find caterpillars. We looked at the squirrel box.
