Maggie sent me two of her college essays to read and review. I had her e-mail it to me, and I made comments and suggestions and then scanned and sent it back to her, and then we Face-timed and conferenced. Maggie is working on Draft Two of both her essays.
Today Maggie and I went through the question types for both Reading and the Writing & Language sections. Maggie completed a number of drills and then we reviewed what to do on the SAT essay quickly.
Today we went over the strategy for each of the verbal sections. I modeled that strategy and then gave Maggie the opportunity to practice it for both sections.
Today for our final session, Maggie and I concentrated on the reading passages she has the most difficulty with- history and science texts with data tables or graphs. We also covered a bit from the grammar section and reviewed how to tackle the SAT essay.
We went through the problems that she got wrong on her last practice test. On topics that she needed more work with, we went through the concept and I gave her other examples.
Today Maggie and I went over her answers to a Writing & Language practice test she took. Next, Maggie practiced more reading passages. We discussed her answers and Maggie practiced looking at what factors make one answer a better choice compared to another.
