Katya was again not available for our U.S. Government class today. Between yesterday and today, it's 3 hours of teaching time where I am sitting at my computer, trying to locate her. This Microsoft Office system is good and I am navigating through it at home well. I can see when a student is online and when they are offline. Katya and Anna George are not online. I called Elise just after 10am and 10:30am and she is doing her best to contact the Dieffenbachs. I am awaiting another call back from Elise. I also sent an email chat to Nicole R. and Marcus through the Microsoft Office system to let them know that Katya and Anna remain offline and to inquire how we can get them active. I do not leave my computer post during ANY of my classes. UPDATE: Marcus was able to reach Katya at 10:50am. She was in an online history class with Mr. Sims and remains offline on Microsoft Office. There seems to have been a scheduling mix up, too.

I reached out to Katya several times today for our class that was to take place from 12:30 - 2:30pm. I didn't leave my desk, hoping to hear back from her. I called and texted through Microsoft Office at least five times between 12:30 - 2:30pm. She must be having a very hard time this week...as are we all.

Lesson Comments
Katya not at school on Monday, March 16. Had to give Cal the package of ten paintings (which he reacted very nicely to) and the Independent Study Sheet outlining the assignment and the finished product I am looking for. Cal confirmed that Katya will be given her Independent Study assignment early this week. My note to Katya was to get back to me via cell phone or email. If she uses Microsoft Team what will work nicely as well.

Before she left school at noon with her brother, Katya informed me that they had to leave early today. She asked me for copies of her school work for the next few weeks as they will likely not be returning to school for a while. Katya has the next four chapters of her U.S. Government text to work on.

Lesson Comments
Katya was freaked out by the large crowd at the talent show yesterday. She shared that she and Vlad will not be back in school for a while. They are all understandably and very worried about their Dad's compromised immune system.

Lesson Outline
Two handouts: Number (1) "Things That Interest You." After Katya completes the handout, listing as many as seven areas of interest, and we discuss each area of interest, we are to go on to handout number (2) "Activities." Note: after my list of possible activities, Katya to add two or more activities not on my list that she would like to pursue. My list of activities: Great works of art; Exploring careers; In five years; Contemporary politics; Social issues; Psychological issues; Prompts (photos, quotes); Debating; Poetry; Plays; Short stories; Writing Strategies; Research paper; Creative writing; Biographies. Again, Katya can add to my list, and we might run with one or more areas Katya wants to delve into.
Assignment
Katya to use the two handouts as her independent study and submit to me on Tuesday next week.

Lesson Comments
Katya came to class very disoriented, looking to be alone after having had her treatment earlier in the day. I gave her the handouts to do as an independent study.
