I worked with Aubee on problems from her study packet. I reviewed with her problems involving bimodal distribution, probability in games of chance, combinations and permutations, and areas under the normal curve. There was one area of difficulty relating calculator operations to finding z-scores, but Aubee said she would get the answer from her instructor. There was no assignment.

Fortunately, Aubee sent the school a copy of her study packet to use in the review. Although the emphasis for Aubee's statistics class is different than the one I'm teaching, I managed to solve her areas of difficulty.
We focused on the final exam review covering all of the questions she had marked plus those she wanted to review again. The entire review was completed.
Aubee was preparing for her exam. We reviewed graphing polynomials using end behavior and zeros with multiplicity. To find the zeros we used synthetic substitution and synthetic division.
We first reviewed factor patterns binomial and trinomial. We then learned to determine the zeros of polynomials of degrees greater than two. We used synthetic substitution and synthetic division to determine these zeros. We also discussed end behavior of polynomials and how to handle multiplicities greater than one.
In this session, we determined end behavior of polynomials of odd and even degrees. We also determined how to graph a polynomial using end behavior and zeros combined with their multiplicity. To determine the zeros we used synthetic substitution and synthetic division.
Aubee wanted help figuring out the proportions in the two special triangles: 30-60-90 degree triangles and 45-45-90 degree triangles. I showed her how to use the Pythagorean Theorem and some basic facts in both types of triangles. We worked several problems of each type. There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
Aubee felt very confident after the lesson. She has prepared very well.
I reviewed several topics for Aubee's final exam including projectile motion, properties of solids and liquids, density, and sound. We worked together to answer multiple choice 'click' questions on her computer. We completed the most challenging questions from her teacher's test bank. There was no assignment.

Aubee has worked very hard on her physics class but has received lower than expected grades because of the poor quality of instruction for the course.
Aubee and I worked on problems in a packet supplied by her teacher to prepare her for the final exam. There were problems involving the angles in a polygon and more specifically, properties of parallelograms, trapezoids, rhombi, and kites. We solved several problems in which relations of sides or angles were expresssed algebraically. There was no assignment.

Aubee's performance on the practice problems showed that she is well prepared for the final exam.
I worked with Aubee on her review packet which consisted of 50 multiple choice questions similar to the ones that would be on the test. As we went through the questions, Aubee and I made notations on the review sheet to indicate more about each question. We also pointed out answers that didn't make sense or were less correct than other answers. There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
Aubee has had problems with the attitude of the instructor. The instructor seems to put barriers in front of students' understanding and appears to have poor understanding of the physics he is teaching.
