PJ still had the outline we began several weeks ago so we were able to pick up right where we left off. He did a great job developing several new characters and coming up with unique traits. He also fleshed out the world and the various fantasy races that populate it, as well as some broad story beats.
Nico learned the following digraphs and silent letters: wh, ch, sh, th, ck, tch, dge, tion, sion, sion, ture, tu, ci, ti, wr, rh, gn, kn, mn, mb, and gh. He practiced spelling words with these digraphs and silent letters.
Nico learned and practiced how to make contractions. He read chapter 4 Safe Food for the Future. He wrote the main idea and key details for this paragraph.
Nico learned about complete sentences, fragments and run-ons. He completed two activities determining if the writing was a complete sentence, fragment or run-on.
Nico wrote a paragraph about the days of the week. He began with a main idea sentences, then key detail sentences. He worked on using transition words like then comes, next, the first, the second, following, etc. He worked on proofreading his own work and always capitalizing the days of the week and "I".
Nico read the text "A Chemical Miracle" and wrote sentences for the main idea and key details. He worked on his spelling words from yesterday, and he worked on his newest comic.
Nico read a passage "Dogs that Sniff", then wrote a creative passage about an airport working dog. He had to write about the beginning, middle and end of his day working in the airport. We corrected his spelling mistakes and practiced these new spelling words.
