Luke continued to be distracted until he knew he could control the outcome of the story by his choice. He questioned the choices and wanted to see both outcomes of his choice.
Luke was highly distracted by his gems and would not participate in the lesson. I had to physically restrain him from leaving the room. He wanted to wash his gems and decorate his new shelving. I removed his gems and moved them to the front desk. He calmed down but still would not work.
Student had completed reading The Tell Tale Heart and took the Assessment in the ELA workbook. Summarize the theme and main events for Tell Tale Heart and Fly For Your Life. Defined key vocabulary within these stories.

As A substitute today for David's ELA class, we reviewed the Tell Tale Heart and had him complete the related Assessment. David was a bit confused at the beginning when he said that the Tell Tale Heart and Fly For Your Life are the same stories and then I explained to him why they were different, He benefited from my explanation of several key vocabulary words within these stories.
This morning, Aiden and I reviewed this week's assignment on The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. He is to read pages 1 - 40 throughout the week and answer questions from the study guide. Then, Aiden read from the book out loud before answering questions on the prologue.
