Kaitlin explored her new Spelling and Wordly Wise words by practicing how to correctly pronounce these words, by studying their definitions, and buy using them in context. She completed several activities using these words correctly.
Kaitlin and I read "To Build a Fire" by Jack London on Common Lit. We analyzed and answered questions as we read. We discussed character development of the man and the dog. We discussed the dog's instincts versus the man's lack of instincts in response to the extreme cold.

Kaitlin worked on the pronunciation of her spelling and Wordly Wise words. She completed several activities pertaining to these words using them in context demonstrating her knowledge and understanding of how these words can be used. She read an article about a roller coaster called the "Beast," that incorporated all these words in the story.

We reviewed her spelling and Wordly Wise Words from Lesson 15 paying close attention to the pronunciation and definitions of each word. She began listening to a reading of Book 1 of the "Odyssey." She started writing a story using all of her spelling words.

She continued her study of "The Odyssey," by Homer as presented by Robert Fagles. We discused Homer, the translator Robert Fagles, and a summary of the story.

Kaitlin began a study of her new literature book the Odyssey by discussing the main characters of the epic poem and exploring the context in which it was written. We watched a video by Course Hero which gave a detailed explanation of the time period and events that were happening during the time frame which Homer is said to have written the poem.
