I'm working one of her areas of weakness--planning and outlining her writing.
Today, Robin typed up her research proposal on her Penzu Journal. She decided to conduct a social experiment in which she would replace soda with water for two-three days. She wrote a thesis, and described her reasons for the experiment and her expectations for results.
Robin and I met to discuss our future course readings, topics, and essays. We decided to begin with a research report regarding a social experiment of choice. She viewed a TEDxTeen talk on "teenagers are complicated," as well as a social experiment report narrated by Lucie who gave up her cell phone for 5 days.
After discussion and reflection, I gave Robin a few writing prompts, first lines, and tips, and she completed a 30 minute freewriting exercise in fiction story writing.
