Today, Robin and I did a short plagiarism workshop, using a university video followed up by discussion and journaling. She learned how to avoid intentional and unintentional plagiarism by always quoting, paraphrasing using unique sentence structure and word choice, and ALWAYS citing sources.

Lesson Comments
Robin was late and said she had to reinstall Skype today. She didn't have her research paper on today's computer, so we could not continue editing. I hope to see her current draft next class.
Today, Robin revised and edited her research paper, focusing on MLA parenthetical citations, comma splices, fragments, word choice, and numbers in statistics.
Robin and I worked on editing the first two pages of her research paper on soda versus water. She specifically edited her essay for proper MLA headings, format, and parenthetical citations.
Research Paper: Using Documentaries as Primary Sources
Lesson Outline
Today, Robin and I watched a documentary on fast food and its effects on the human body. She took notes and we discussed the tools of testimony, direct quotes, and anecdotes, which can be useful on a research paper.
Today, Robin and I reviewed sources and a video on Youtube. She worked on note taking skills, as she was writing too much in her notes and losing track quickly. I reviewed shorthand and abbreviations.
Today, Robin collected many sources for her research report, evaluating their credibility, and selecting the most reliable (ethos). She also conducted her own field research by surveying 20 people at the school. She collected her data, and then recorded statistics and highlighted quotations that she can use in her research paper.
