Jared's essay is taking shape. Judie came in and read his essay so far, and said that she was impressed at the high level of work. I suggested that Jared begin English 12 as soon as possible. We also discussed Jared's forthcoming teacher/director/parent conference, in which Judie imparted some words of wisdom to Jared and me.

Jared took a quiz on antonyms and synonyms and did fairly well. We then examined how poetry has affected children's writings, and we read a Dr. Seuss story about When I Ran the Circus. We noticed how creative language was used, especially in making adjectives out of adverbs.
