Jared reviewed important vocabulary words encountered in this course. We also discussed some of the broad themes in American literature; he took special note of the fact that because of this course, he became familiar with authors who sparked the Harlem Renaissance movement.

I invited Keaton, a new student with near-perfect eidetic memory to go over important vocabulary for both spelling and synonyms. Judie also joined us for a short time. Jared did fairly well compared to the two guests.

We reviewed spellings and meanings of important vocabulary from Jared's textbook. He seems to retain much of what he learns.

We experimented with a method for learning vocabulary, saw my film I had created about the state of student writing abilities, and had a discussion with Walt about the Holocaust. We ended with a diacussion of a short reading from the textbook.

We reviewed a variety of difficult words, and spent most of the time learning their meanings and spellings. At the end of the time, Jared knew all the words!

Jared completed his Stanford testing, and we reviewed his forthcoming vocabulary and reading assignments.

Jared reviewed some advanced vocabulary with which he was not familiar, and then we read a short story together.
