Covered "two truths and a lie" storytelling. Sebastian seemed to really enjoy this exercise. Ms. Judie stopped by and got to hear one round of Sebastian's stories.
Today we worked with the dlsr camera and talked about the history of cameras. We learned how to change the shutter speed, aperture, and the iso. We ended taking Long exposure shots and drawing with a flashlight.
In today's lesson Sebastian and I completed our shadows activity. We collected the measurements of his shadow then compared them from yesterday at 9am. This showed him that the sun angle at 9am was lower leading to a long shadow, while at 11am it was higher leading to a shorter shadow. We created a bar graph for more accurate comparison.

Reading Strategy – Context Clues –- Sebastian was supplied word bank and used these words to complete q context clue activity. Context clues are the words and sentences that surround a word and help explain the word's meaning. Context clues are hugely important because their comprehension and effective usage leads to academic success. They can increase the child's vocabulary, reading comprehension, and make children better readers.
Reading Strategy – STARS workbook pages 75 and 77- Interpreting Figurative Language – This activity was used to reinforce his understanding of figurative language through reading passages, answering questions, and we discussed his answers.
Grammar - Quotation Marks – Sebastian worked on using quotations in a divided two parts quote where it is necessary to put the quotation marks at the beginning and the end of each part and at each part put commas before and after the words that tell who is speaking. Examples were shown and he completed an activity where he had to add these in the required area. This was reviewed on completion.
Planned to view and discuss Sebastian's movie(s). He was not able to pull them up on his iPad. Discussed his editing of his film assignment.

Sebastian was late to class and complaining he did not feel well. He called his mother and spoke with Ms. Judie. When Sebastian did come to class, he was not interested in participating or engaging.
In today's lesson, Sebastian and I started a shadow activity to investigate the pattern and movement of the sun. We will continue the activity at a different time to compare the length of the shadows. Then we learned about the solstices and equinoxes.

Lesson Outline
Sebastian did well color coding a map illustrating the middle colonies and their capitals. He was asked to compare and contrast two colonies and then determine which one he would prefer to have lived in and explain why. Sebastian enjoyed brainstorming what characteristics he would like his house and neighborhood to have.

Writing - Slide Project – Today Sebastian continued the process of creating the draft of his slide show. He also went around the school taking pictures of the students to add to his project.
