Today, Dylan and I focused mostly on English Grammar and Conventions. We did some Reading Comprehension. Dylan did better today on both skills. We also have meaningful conversation about test strategies and skills. Dylan asks great questions and takes notes during our sessions. He is a tutor's dream! We will continue to work on these skills.

Dylan completed another portion of the calculator section of the exam. We also worked on lines of best fit. We learned how to enter data, clear data and change data. Dylan then graphed the data and had the calculator determine line of best fit. He then graphed the best fit line and analyzed the data with the diagnostic App.

Lesson Outline
Today, Dylan and I got to know each other and discussed his strengths and weaknesses, as well as strategies that he uses in his test taking. We practiced both reading comprehension and grammar and convention exercises and then discussed answers in depth. We also discussed SAT vocabulary which I will send to him in order to strengthen his critical reading. For now we will meet once per week.

Dillon had a new graphing calculator, so we spent the time learning all the apps to analyze functions. We did some problems by hand and then with the graphing calculator. We talked about test-taking strategies with the calculator. We did a number of problems that are on the SAT and how they are solved with the graphing calculator.
