Reading Comprehension, English Grammar, Vocabulary
Lesson Outline
Dylan completed two more chapters in his SAT vocabulary book. Again, I am impressed with his proactive behavior in wanting to strengthen his vocabulary. We practiced again with both reading comp and the English convention sections. This time, Dylan wanted to time himself. I'm glad he did because this actually allowed him to focus more. We will keep doing the timing, but I would like to keep a balance of pressure from timing and quality of focus. :) Dylan is still searching for the perfect testing site to take his SATs. He took two more chapters of Vocabulary exercises. He also found my missing SAT books! :)
Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and English Grammar
Lesson Outline
Dylan and I continued with practice on Reading Comprehension and the Short English Grammar sections of the SAT book. Dylan also completed two more exercises from the SAT Vocabulary book. I am really proud of his devotion to this. He is broadening his vocabulary, which will not only help him on the SAT, but will allow him to speak more sophisticatedly throughout life.
In the first part of the activity we solved linear programing problems by graphing an enclosed region and determining max and min. In the last part of the session, we continued to work in SAT math exam 2.
Dylan and I continued to practice in both versions of the SAT Practice book. I gave him an SAT Vocabulary book to do exercises in so that he can become exposed to common academic vocabulary. We are getting stronger with each session.
Dylan and I looked online at some SAT sites. He decided to postpone the SAT to the December test so that he had more time to prepare. We reviewed from the Hot Words for the SAT Vocabulary book from which Dylan did two chapter exercises for homework. I copied two more chapters for him to do for homework. I love that Dylan is taking initiative and trying to do everything he can on all levels to prepare for the test. We are working from both the CollegeBoard and Princeton SAT books.
