We explored ideas for Rowan's contribution to the student newsletter
Lesson Outline
Rowan and I discussed and wrote down different ideas for what he could contribute to a student newsletter, and the idea of the things that he does well that he would like to share with others. We also spent some time talking about the elections.
Rowan fried all the plaintains before the lunch, then helped with the cleanup afterwards. We had about 40 minutes left of the session, so he did his homework for the weekend.
We made a pumpkin pie for the party on Wednesday. Rowan did everything, except turn on the convection oven, which requires a PhD in electrical engineering. He cracked the eggs, beat them, opened the cans and poured in the pumpkin, measured the spices, and did a great job cleaning up.
Rowan and I shopped for the ingredients for fajitas, then made them when we got back to school. We ran out of time before eating them, so he brought everything home.
rowan and I made steak burritos. We cut the vegetables and steak and cooked them. We did not have time to eat them, so he took the food home. I then drove him to Busch
Laila had things to work on today. We started with sentence scrambles, which she has a lot of trouble with. We focused on noun/verb agreement as the root of all sentences and she seemed to improve by the end. Then we worked on her project on Rosa Parks. She had prepared her information, but had not done any research beyond the very basic book she had. We went online and printed out information about the laws in Montgomery and the Bus Boycott. She should be in good shape to write the report.
