GT had successfully completed his rough draft for homework. I conferenced with him on his LORD OF THE FLIES essay. I made revision suggestions. We revised together. Then I made editing suggestions, and we discussed the correction of some grammatical errors. I then reviewed the MLA guidelines. We discussed how to create correctly a Works Cited page. GT will correct and complete his final copy for homework. His final paper is due to me on Thursday. We then briefly discussed his Government paper. I made some editing suggestions and again briefly reviewed how to correctly write The Works Cited page.
Abby and I completed the last review section of the 11th grade book. We discussed the passages and how they mirror the reading passages on the SAT. We completed the review activities. Abby then began the final cumulative assessment for the 11th grade book. She will need more time for the assessment tomorrow. She will read more of her novel for homework.
Abby and I discussed the pages of the book that she had read for homework. We answered the accompanying discussion/study guide questions. We also discussed some of the poetry cited within the novel. We discussed why the author chose those poems. We also discussed the imagery and message within the poems themselves. We then continued reading the novel. Abby will read more for homework.
I presented GT with the writing rubric that I will use to assess his paper. I asked him to read it and ask for clarification on any of the requirements. He asked a couple questions about the requirements. I then read through his rough draft. I made some comments on how to improve it. He still needed to write his third body paragraph and his conclusion which he will have completed on Monday for homework. We also discussed the best textual evidence to use in the remainder of his draft.

Abby and I worked on completing the 11th grade level vocabulary book. I ordered the 12th grade one so we could b begin it this year. We finished the last lesson. We began reviewing for the big test at the end of the book. We also continued our study of the novel. We discussed the plot twist. We also discussed the setting and its relevance to the plot. We answered some of the discussion/study guide questions. Abby will read more of the novel for homework.

GT and I discussed his introduction and thesis statement along with his first body paragraph. He was missing textual evidence to support his analysis. We read some criticisms of the novel, and we found some powerful textual evidence to use. He also had a few run-on sentences, so I did a mini lesson on correcting those. I also instructed on how to appropriately cite Shakespeare using MLA format. GT will write the rest of his rough draft for homework.
