We finished reading the novel. We had a very good discussion about the ending of the book. We then discussed the pending literary analysis. Abby will compare/contrast the last two novels by
Kristen Hannah that she has read. We started our pre-writing today and created an outline. We started composing the thesis statement. Abby needs to return to the novels to find textual evidence to support her thesis/points. She will begin her introduction for homework.

Lesson Outline
I checked the vocabulary activities that Abby had completed on her own. She did quite well. We then read and studied the novel. We also prepared an outline to begin writing the author's study on Monday. Abby will finish reading the novel for homework.

Abby and I discussed the pages that she had read for homework. We then continued reading and studying the novel, preparing to write the author study. We also answered another lesson in the vocabulary book. We studied the words and then Abby answered the application activities that followed. She also completed the three unit review activities. Abby does quite well.

Lesson Outline
GT and I discussed the pages that he had read on his own. We then continued reading the novel stopping to annotate and to discuss the characters and the plot. GT chose a quote from the previous chapter to write a double journal entry for it. He will add the analysis to the quote and its relevance to the novel for homework.

GT and I read an informational text article about bullying from Common Lit. We then answered the comprehension activity that followed the article. The questions mirrored questions that will appear on the ACT. We compared the findings in the article to the situation in the novel. We also had a very good discussion on the characters in the book. We discussed the presence of bullying in the book.

Abby and I worked diligently studying a new vocabulary lesson. We studied the words, then Abby completed the application activities and did quite well. We then summarized the novel thus far. We also discussed the pages Abby had read for homework. We continued reading the novel annotating for textual evidence for understanding and author's purpose.

GT and I continued our study of the novel. We read and discussed. We also chose quotes together for his double journal entries. GT will write his reflections and interpretations of the quotes for homework. GT had completed several lessons in his vocabulary book. We reviewed the application activities. We discussed and completed some additional activities together. I answered some questions that GT had regarding some of the vocabulary.
