I introduced double journal entries. I provided a rubric with the requirements. I also provided some examples of double entry journals. Olivia asked some questions about the double entry journal. We then continued our study of the novel. We read and annotated for understanding. We also annotated to locate quotes that we may want to use in our double entry journals.
Olivia and I began our study of Unit 2. We discussed and studied the words. We then began working on the application exercises that followed. Olivia said that almost all of the words were new to her. She did quite well applying the challenging words in context.
Olivia and I first discussed her graded Gatsby essay. I had her review my comments and asked if she had any questions. She wasn't happy with her grade, but understood what she needed to do to improve. We then continued with our study of the novel. We answered the accompanying study guide questions. We talked about her writing three double journal entries a week based on her annotations of the novel. I will provide an example and a rubric for the journal entries tomorrow.
