Today's session with Kaitlin centered on the important topic of the concluding battles of World War 1 and the late entry of the U.S. in 1917. Kaitlin has a deep interest in this period of history due to her German roots and her fascination with the developments leading to World War 2.
We addressed writing a first paragraph to an AP style World History essay on imperialism. I directed attention to the prompt and the outline I placed on google docs re : contextualization, evaluative thesis, and line of reasoning. We then discussed ideologies that influenced imperialism and how to create an evaluative thesis by comparing economic motives with ideological motives. Kaitlin then drafted a good first paragraph with all of the AP elements. I assisted in addressing academic word choice and structure.
Unit 7.2 Causes of World War 1: M.A.I. N Militarism, Alliances , Imperialism, and Nationalism. Propaganda used by Germany and Great Britain. Censorship of reporting /non-reporting negative events. Build up of Battleships and military supplies by Great Britain and Germany pre-1914. Battle of Gallipoli 1915-1916 significance: Ottoman resistance of British naval advancement. During today's session, Kaitlin was in-person during class and she was laser-focused on our topic on the causes (and build up) of World War 1 and the key early war battles/events. She and I discussed her beginning to review

She answered well several MCQ questions on WW 1 and I discussed with her beginning to review previous AP WH Units for the upcoming May exam.
We went through the process of using a graphing calculator to study circles. A calculator that graphs relation is much easier to use for circles than one that does only functions.
Assignment
Be able to graph relations on the TI-Nspire.
