We examined Art II of the Constitution, and Sam noted the constitutional requirements to qualify for the presidency and the explicit powers conferred on the president. Sam answered the questions on the outline and added notes about the president's veto power and the right of Congress to override the veto. I then distributed practice questions on the judiciary and the federal court system which Sam completed. Last,we reviewed Sam's class notes ,and Sam highlighted terms and definitions of importance. Today, Sam and I watched a video about the novel we are reading "El viaje de su vida". It is about Carlos who is excited to go on his first cruise with his family. While on the cruise he witnesses a crime that turns him from a tourist to being engrossed in solving a mystery. His bold actions eventually lead him to the top of an ancient Mayan ruin, where his life is in great danger . Sam read aloud in class (pages 5-7). Sam filled in the reading log information and the summary of what she read today. We highlighted new words from her vocabulary list for the upcoming spelling quiz.

The skin-continued
Lesson Outline
We discussed what changes occur to the skin on aging, the thinning of the skin, particularly in certain areas, and that the skin is more easily damaged with decreasing ability to heal itself. There is a decrease in elasticity and skin volume with a decrease in blood flow and lower glandular activity. Laxity, Rhytids, and erythema are all part of the aging process of skin. The use of products developed to counter some of these effects was discussed, along with the possible side effects which may develop, such as allergic responses.

We completed our review of the Civil Rights Movement by tracing the relevant historical developments such as: Plessy v Fergunson, Brown vs Bd Of Education, Martin Luther King's marches and sits-ins and finally the enactment of the 1965 Civil Rights Act. Sam took notes on all of these developments. We then went over a series of flashcards I made, and Sam identified those areas where she needed assistance. Based on the flashcard review, we then went through Sam's notes and highlighted the portions of the notebook that addressed those areas . The final exam is scheduled for Monday at 1:30.

Square Feet to Square Yards, defining rotations
Lesson Outline
I worked Sam through a real-life mathematical situation today. We looked at room dimensions in inches and feet, and changed the ones measured in inches to feet by dividing by 12. We then found the areas in square feet. Those were then changed to square yards by dividing by 9. Given this info, we then estimated the cost of carpet installation for a bedroom and closet.
We then moved into the rotations. I gave her a summary sheet that defined different rotations, and she looked at different ones and had to determine the type of rotation based on how the plotted point changed.

Sdkin- Dermis, and pigmentation
Lesson Outline
We continued with our anatomical and physiological examination of human skin by concentrating on the dermal layer. The inclusion of nerve endings, blood vessels, sweat glands, hair follicles, and fat molecules allowed us to discuss the role of each in the physiology of the skin. The occurrence of melanin, a pigment, in this layer was discussed as to how it effects skin color and developed as protective chemical against UV rays. The need to adjust lotions, creams, ointments and makeup because of the presence of this pigment was also discussed
