As Sam is still working on her project on the Civil Rights Movement, we discussed a few questions on the assignment . I outlined what we will be covering in class until the break. Sam's project will be due tomorrow, and we will be having a quiz on the Bill of Rights on Monday. I again highlighted the areas in the textbook that will be the subject of Monday's quiz. During our afternoon session, we discussed the bicameral structure of Congress and how the Great Compromise reached at the
Constitutional Convention led to the creation of the bicameral legislature. We next analyzed the express and implied powers of Congress under Art I. Sam raised good questions regarding the contrasting views of the Democratic and Republican parties as they relate to the interpretation of Congress' powers to regulate. For homework, Sam is completing her work on the Civil Rights Movement and studying for the test on Monday.
Sam had a great attitude today, and with only minor redirection, spent the time working on her short answer responses to chapter 1, Lord of the Flies. She spent the remainder of the class reading the next chapter.
Since this is our first Physics class together, as well as the end of the semester, I am going through some basic physics topics to make sure she understands them. Today, we were doing unit conversions. This is necessary knowledge to solve other problems in physics.
Today Sam worked on her take-home test. She spent the class reading an excerpt from a Martin Luther King letter during his time in a Birmingham jail and answering a packet of related questions.
The plan was to continue working with different operations on radical expressions. I was going to do some problems multiplying and dividing radical expressions while making sure not to leave any radical in the denominator of a fraction. We were also gong to work on simplifying radical expressions. Samantha was not in class today. There was no assignment.
