I demonstrated solving various trigonometric equations as Joshua followed from home. He was not in attendance and could not locate his text book at home. We solved equations with general solutions and equations with specific solutions depending on the domain of the angle. The assignment was given as P.934 Guided Practice #4,6 and P. 935 # 4 -20 even problems.

I took 20 minutes to get online with Joshua because the school did not have sufficient computers to go online with all of the missing students. When I located Joshua's school computer in his classroom, I had a lot of trouble using his computer to log in to teams.
When I finally got into the session, there were frequent interruptions and losses of connection. I was told that we did not have any internet problems at the school, I surmised that Joshua was purposely playing with the reception. He did very little work in class, taking advantage of the interruptions.
I continued to proctor Matthew as he worked on the test on rational functions which includes direct and inverse variations, horizontal and vertical asymptotes, simplification of complex fractions, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and solving equations containing rational expressions. He still has not finished the test and will continue on Monday. There was no assignment.

Matthew is still working hard on algebra 2 to finish by the end of the year.
I reviewed the process of verifying trigonometric identities with Joshua. The procedure differs from simplifying trigonometric functions by being an expression instead of an equation. There was no assignment.

Joshua was too distracted by his upcoming AP test to pay much attention.
I administered Matthew's test on rational functions which includes direct and inverse variations, horizontal and vertical asymptotes, simplification of complex fractions, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and solving equations containing rational expressions. There was no assignment.

Matthew finished about half the problems and seemed to be doing well so far. I collected his test for him to work on tomorrow.
Review problems for the test on rational functions
Lesson Outline
I went over Matthew's homework problems with him. Then I showed him some multiplication and division problems along with addition and subtraction. We also solved some equations with rational expressions on both sides. I gave him homework which I allowed him to work on during the class to save time. He had a single problem to do by tomorrow.

Matthew worked very well and was able to do most problems with very little difficulty.
I guided Joshua through some practice problems in verifying trigonometric identities. We used Pythagorean and cofunction identities in order to substitute functions to make the two sides of the equation equal. I gave him a homework assignment due Friday: p.931 # 28 - 34 evens.

Joshua wasn't very attentive but contributed some answers.
I reviewed Matthew's homework assignment and we did some more problems in adding and subtracting rational expressions with unlike denominators. I then began to review the chapter by solving some problems on indirect variation and multiplication and division of rational expressions. I assigned problems in the chapter review which were P. 603 # 8 and 9, and p. 605 # 20,22.

Matthew is working hard to complete his work for the year. He is taking notes and contributing in class.
Verifying identities and solving trigonometric equations
Lesson Outline
The plan was to finish reviewing the homework problems that Joshua didn't do when they were assigned. Then we were going to begin the section on solving trigonometric equations. Since Joshua is taking an AP test today, the lecture and homework will have to wait. There was no assignment.
Simplifying trigonometric expressions and verifying others
Lesson Outline
I started the class by requesting that Joshua show me his homework which he didn't do. I decided that the topic was too important to skip over the assignment and went over some of the homework problems with him as time permitted. We finished the section on simplification but still need to go over problems on verifying identities. There was no assignment.

Joshua continued to be obstructive and distracted but contributed some effort.
The plan was to go over the homework problems and review for the chapter test on rational expressions and functions. I was going to go over problems with solving equations which have unlike denominators and begin reviewing of the chapter test material. Unfortunately, Matthew was taking his AP exam in a different subject. We will have to cover today's material tomorrow. If time permits, I will assign homework P. 593 # 14 - 24 even problems.

Lesson Comments
The already tight schedule for Matthew to complete his assignments and be tested will be postponed by at least one school day. Also, my list of topics to be covered does not allow for review time or testing time. This makes the schedule I'll be laying out for him to complete his work highly demanding.
