Science – Big Idea 02, Week 03, Day 3: Why Do Dandelions Turn White and Fluffy? – We learned that a seed’s coat is like a coat of armor that the seed wears. The seed coat is hard to protect the seed germ which is the living part of the seed on the inside of the coat. The seed germ is protected from being damaged and from becoming too dry.
Science – Big Idea 02, Week 03, Day 4: Why Do Dandelions Turn White and Fluffy? – We learned that dandelions have special parts that allow them to be distributed. Then we learned that most seeds float so they can also be distributed by water. Next we learned that animals help distribute seeds by eating them and the seed coat will protect the seed germ from being digested. Animals distribute seeds when they pass through them.
