Listen to a podcast which involves the beginning of the development and use of organic ether molecules as anaesthesia. Discuss the molecule as a diethyl ether molecule. Discuss what possible effects it has on the brain and central nervous system. The podcast also outlines how the chemical effect and physiological effect are still not truly known.

We looked at these concepts using an x-y-coordinate system without technology. We explored the concepts verbally, numerically, symbolically, and graphically.
I went over Ben's test answers. He was able to answer the questions verbally, but did not write them down on the hard copy he was provided. I explained that even though he didn't write them on his test, he could type his responses - and we reviewed the procedure and expectations. Ben had also been emailed the questions. He stated tht he was content to receive a lower grade, which I gently questioned, so we reviewed motivations, work expectations, and long-term objectives in efforts to promote an understanding of how to achieve more successful outcomes and greater success in his academics at college.
Define the organic substances called ethers. Write the general formula for an ether as R'-O-R". Determine that it is composed of two organic molecules, either alkanes or cyclic or a combination of both with an oxygen atom attached to the central ether carbon. Determine the simplest ether is composed of two methyl groups with an oxygen between them. CH3-O-CH3, Explain the Nomenclature, and name the ether as dimethyl ether. Discuss some of the physical and chemical properties of ethers and their original use as general anaesthetics.
We will put to use the skills involving variables and expressions as we solve precalculus problems.
Lesson Outline
We will do problems oin precalculus that do not involve numbers and require a knowledge of mathematical expressions and equations.

Lesson Comments
We did examples involving expressions with symbols rather than numbers and evaluating expressions with grouping symbols on a calculator as opposed to doing them mentally.
There was an audio issue on Ben's end of Google Meet. Fortunately, he could hear me but we met for a shorter amount of time while attempting to resolve the issue. Ben is to complete his test on Chapters IX and X inn order to finish answering the questions; he answered some verbally but needs to answer them on paper and more completely. We will resume our Google Meet at 5:00PM.
