Today we reviewed different applications using the word 'good' in social greetings. We re-visited greetings previously learned, learned new ones and learned how and when to apply greetings for different times of times of the day. Coincidentally, when Sebastain went on his Duo-Lingo app, the exercise of the day tested his memory on several of the greetings we reveiwed in today's session, such as good morning, good day, good afternoon, good evening, good night (bon matin, bonjour, bonne apres-midi, bonsoir, bon nuit, repectively). We learned when, and with whom, it was most appropriate to use these greetings and which are the most popular; for example, bon jour is usually used all day in France, generally up until 6PM, during which time bon soir is used). I had Sebastian repeat the phrases after me and quizzed him intermittently. As a fun exercise, Sebastian requested that I make a video with his cat, and pretend that he was the student, so I created a very short mock lesson with Argento, which Sebastian thoroughly enjoyed. It also turned out to be a creative way to have Sebastian review the words and expressions acquired in today's lesson.
