Graphing Populations -
Rory was given data from an island where the deer population was growing fast. Managers thought that the deer population would grow to the point where there was not enough food, resulting in some deer starving to death. They decided to add 10 wolves to the island. The number of deer and wolves was tracked over several years. Rory was challenged with graphing both populations on the same graph. We then discussed if it was better to be eaten by a predator or starve to death. We also discussed how the managers altered the limiting factors for this population in the island ecosystem. We also predicted what will happen to the rest of the ecosystem in the future now that both the deer and wolves met their carrying capacity on the island.

Rory and I turned on the documentary about Pusha T, a rapper and manager. I had Rory go to the student website, open the page labeled Pusha T, and had him open the page editor. I walked him through the layout of the page and he replaced all of the images and headers. Rory created the remaining content paragraphs and completed editing the backgrounds to other areas. Rory saved his work and previewed his work in desktop, tablet, and mobile formats.

Strategic thinking and complex reasoning using textual evidence to support analysis
Lesson Outline
Rory was able to draw evidence from the text to support his analysis and reflection of the main characters of the book, "The Other Wes Moore." We researched the book and the author to build upon his present knowledge. While Rory admitted he found the book a bit boring, he used valid reasoning to evaluate and analyze the characters. He was then able to corroborate his conclusions using information from his research and inferences from the author's background, comparing and contrasting it with the other Wes Moore character in the book.

Rory was instructed to go to the student website. I gave him a brief overview of what a homepage would look like. Rory created a new page, labeled the page BP home, and opened the page editor. I had Rory find an image that he would like to have as the featured image on his page, resize it to 1920 by 1050 pixels, and upload the image to the main header of his page. Rory then was walked through creating 3 buttons that he placed at the top of his page. Rory made a final section labeled FEATURED and placed the five documentary figures within the section. I helped Rory resize the images and place the labels for each person. Rory saved his work and we watched the final documentary featuring Pusha T.
