Rory and I continued reading the book. We discussed the parts that we read. We talked about ways the book is confusing. We discussed how the author could have written it differently so that it would be easier to understand. Rory took a brief quiz on Chapter one and did very well!
Rory and I continued our study of the book. We read additional chapters. We discussed what we read. Rory took a quick comprehension quiz on the introduction to the book. He did quite well. We started to look at some vocabulary activities that complement the book.
Rory reviewed vocabulary about health and hospitals. He recited the vocabulary words for pronunciation. He answered questions and played the role of a doctor who was responding to a patient with health issues.
Rory and I finished watching the interviews with the author. He provided some unique insight to his book. We discussed the videos and what impact if any they will have on our interpretation of the text. We then talked about some writing assignments to accompany the book. We talked about creating a Venn diagram. We then read more chapters of the book.
Rory explored travel vocabulary. We used verbs of travel to express his future trip to LA. Rory played a song that he wrote and we talked about how to incorporate some Spanish language in his music.
Rory and I discussed Halloween and Day of the Dead. He researched some differences. We discussed the importance of the holiday. We watched the movie Coco.
Rory and I watched a video where the author talks about his book. The interview took place at Harvard. The author talked about the content. He also spent a lot of time talking about his purpose for writing the novel. He explained the research behind the novel. It was very interesting. We need to finish watching it tomorrow.
In this session, again Rory focused on solving linear equations. He is working almost error free on linear equations. Next week we are starting quadratics.
