Rory and I continued our study of the book. We read and discuss. He also is choosing quotes that are meaningful and writing them down using proper MLA citation to be used later for his cumulative project. We are also dissecting the music lyrics in the book to identify and apply his knowledge of poetic devices and figurative language.
Rory and I skyped and we had a discussion about his trip in Spanish. He practiced the present progressive and how to express what was happening in LA at this time. Through dialogue and expression, Rory was able to share his day with me in Spanish and incorporate music vocabulary in his story.
Rory and I continued our study of the book. We read and discussed several chapters. Our focus is on literary devices used in both music and poetry. We also compared Jay-Z's beginnings to Gucci Mane's beginnings. Rory and I are working on what he will write as he reads this book, and what his cumulative project will be.
in this session, we worked with transformations using 4 functions. The parent functions of quadratic, absolute value, radical and cubic were used making these transformations.

Lesson Comments
This was the last day of Biology for Rory.
Rory had a very hard time to stay awake today, and I LITERALLY had to wake him up no less than 25 time during this class. I let him go early because it was just too much work to keep him awake. I think it may be possible he is a narcoleptic.
Rory reviewed the present tense, irregular verbs and tener expressions such as tener ganas, tener sed, tener hambre, tener calor, etc. We completed a short activity to practice writing a dialogue. We conversed in Spanish relating to the theme that we presented in the movie Stand and Deliver.
Rory opened the 3-point perspective file. Rory and I focused on creating the left set of cubes for his design. I had him use the line tool and draw a line from the bottom vanish point through the left side of the horizon line. He created the remaining parts of the cubes by connecting the right vanishing points to specific intersections. Rory selected the polygon lasso tool, created a selection area for the tops of cubes. He followed the same process to color in the sides of the cubes.
Rory opened the 3-point perspective file that I created for him. I went over some of the general tools such as the lasso tool and line tool that were used in creating the first part of the design. I additionally went through the setup of all of the files. Rory was instructed to connect all of the cube points to their respective vanishing points. He used the specific intersections to create the top and bottom front cubes. Rory selected the polygon lasso tool, created a selection area for the tops of cubes. He followed the same process to color in the sides of the cubes.
I had Rory create a horizon line, place two vanishing points on the line, and place a third point below the vanishing point. He placed a line that intersected the horizon line and placed two points on the line. I walked him through connecting all of the points to create a floating box below the horizon line. We continued this process to create another block above the horizon line.
