Rory was given a dark grey paint to cover the pants and shoes of his sculpture. As those areas were drying he painted the face and gloves with white paint. He repeated this process two more times to ensure that no ares were missed.
I did a review with Rory about 2-point perspective. With the basics of 2-point perspective covered we dove into creating an object using 3-point perspective. He setup his layout consisting of a horizon line, 3 vanishing points and a vertical line that passed through the horizon line. He chose points on the horizon line to create the width of the object and points on the vertical line to create the height. I had him connect all the points to their respective vanishing points thus creating a three dimensional object.
Rory wrapped up the end of the class by painting his sculpture with a base coat of grey paint.
In this activity, Rory graphed parent functions of quadratic, absolute value and radical functions using transformations. The transformations used were translations, reflections and scale changes.
Rory continued to work on his cumulative assignment. He chose and typed his quotes complete with correct MLA in-text citation. He began to analyze the quotes, explaining and relating to his explanations and the text. He will also add photos to further advance his PowerPoint.

Distance estimation Lab -
Rory was reminded the length of a ruler, yard stick, centimeter and meter stick. He was then challenged to estimate the length (in both inches and centimeters) of several items of various sizes (including a paper clip, a comb, a fork, a straw, a feather, a poster, etc.). Once he recorded his estimates in a table in his science notebook, he immediately measured the item, and added the precise measurement to the table. We noticed how his estimates became more precise as the activity progressed. This lab gave Rory an opportunity to practice determining distance and using the metric system. Once the activity was complete, Rory watched a portion of the BBC ‘LIFE’ episode about amphibians and reptiles.
In this session, Rory and I worked on the three basic transformations. These were translations, reflections and scale changes. These transformations were applied to quadratics and absolute value functions.
Rory continued watching Stand and Deliver which is a film that includes Spanish dialogue. We discussed "Ganas', the desire. The teacher talks about all you need is ganas to succeed. Rory related the theme to his life experience.
After reviewing some of the work from last week (conjugations and vocabulary) we began the film Stand and Deliver and began discussing the themes presented.
Rory reviewed the present tense. We practiced conversing in Spanish using conjugations of the present tense. We reviewed family vocabulary and shared who our family members are in Spanish. We looked at some irregular verbs that are common in conversation when describing the family members.
