"The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson and Informational articles on Rick Ross

Rory is still waiting for his book. So we read a short story, and we discussed it. Rory had mentioned that he liked the rapper Rick Ross. So we read some informational text articles about his life and how he became an entrepreneur. It was very interesting, and Rory added a lot of additional information to the article that he knew about the artist.

Rory lost the novel we had started reading, so he ordered himself another one today. So we read the short story by Langston Hughes. We also answered some discussion questions. We also read about the life of Langston Hughes, and we researched the Harlem Renaissance. We read and discussed two of Hughes' dream poems.
