Zeta did well keyboarding today. Our goal is for Zeta to learn all the keys/letters by the end of the school year. Zeta was tasked with proofreading sentences and correcting irregular verb tense and subject-verb agreement mistakes. Root words dict and tract were reviewed. We discussed how to analyze words by looking at the root word, prefix and suffix. Zeta read passages and then chose the topic sentence that best matched the given paragraph.
Zeta and I looked at how to find the area of a trapezoid by adding the lengths of the opposite sides, multiplying by the height, and dividing by 2 or A=1/2h(b1+b2). Zeta found the area of numerous trapezoids as well as found missing measurements when given the total area. Then, she answered area challenge questions on Khan Academy by applying area related problems to real world scenarios.
I had Zeta go to her webpage, open the page editor, open the image editor for the second section and update it with a new image of Billie Eilish. I had her change the background, add a brief description for Billie Eilish, and save the page.
Today we completed our unit on weather and storms with a discussion of "El Nino": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qPibjwo21g and hurricanes. Zeta and I discussed the influence of the atmosphere, humidity, air pressure, wind, and temperature on the weather and climate.
Zeta and I began with a review of her homework on transformations, congruence, and symmetry before discussing yesterday's lesson on finding the area of parallelograms and triangles. Then, she completed practice lessons on Khan Academy on finding the area of triangles, finding the missing length when given the area of a triangle, and finding the area of composite shapes.
Zeta enjoyed practicing identifying figurative language and completing analogies through online games. She watched a brief video on strengthening sentences that talked about active vs. passive voice, using modifiers and avoiding redundancy. Given sentences, Zeta was tasked with strengthening the sentences through word choice. She did well reading a passage and answering literal and inferential questions.

Lesson Outline
Zeta was supposed to write an outline for homework, but stated that she was a bit confused on how to proceed. With guidance, Zeta wrote a topic sentence and three supporting details for each body paragraph. She continues to progress in keyboarding. Today, she learned the c and comma keys. We read the next chapter in 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'. Focus was on figurative language and word choice.
