Area
Lesson Outline
This morning, Zeta's lesson focused on finding the area of a circle using the area formula as well as the circumference formula to find missing measurements. She found the approximate area, circumference, or missing measurements of numerous figures, rounding to the nearest whole number. Then, Zeta wrote down all of our recent formulas on finding the area of different solid shapes for use as a reference. We finished on Khan Academy identifying parts of 3-D shapes as well as naming geometric solids.

Circumference
Lesson Outline
Zeta and I reviewed the area formulas of rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids and used them to find missing measurements. Then, we looked at how the distance around a circle is related to the diameter and that knowing one helps find the other. Zeta used the circumference formula to find the circumference of circles when given the diameter or radius as well as finding the missing measurement when given the circumference. We finished with a quiz on Khan Academy on finding the area of parallelograms, triangles, and composite figures and finding the missing lengths when given the areas.
