Quadratic Functions
Lesson Outline
In this activity, we again reviewed the role of rational, irrational, and imaginary numbers in the use of the quadratic formula. We also discussed the role of the discriminant. The goal is to determine the zeros and vertex of a quadratic. It is complicated because there are so many methods that can be used.

GT and I watched a video about the history of the Federal Reserve and who 'really' controls the money supply. I gave him time to read a current event article and answer questions regarding the real-life application of Monetary and Fiscal Policies that we're experiencing in the economy right now - tax cuts, bailouts, and stimulus checks.

Original poems and SADLIER VOCABULARY
Lesson Outline
GT and I completed the lesson in his vocabulary book. The activities required using all 20 words from the lesson. GT did quite well. GT then shared three creative poems that he had written for homework. They are outstanding. I'm going to look into getting them published. We worked on titling and formatting the poems. We talked about concrete poetry--where you place the words on a page to convey the meaning of the poem. He did this for one of his. He split his screen and we were able to work on the formatting together. GT will write a collection of around 10 poems for his final project. He is off to a great start!!!!

Lesson Outline
Given the current state of the economy, I skipped ahead in the text a bit to start to cover Monetary and Fiscal Policy. We discussed a current event article that provided real life examples of how both the Federal Reserve and the President/Congress are trying to issue policies to help our economy out of/prevent the recession we're experiencing as a result of COVID-19.
Assignment
Read the article in it's entirety and answer the associated questions. You can find it in the "Assignments" section of the Teams app.

WHERE I 'M FROM by George Ella Lyon; UNTITLED by Peter Meinke;SADLIER VOCABULARY
Lesson Outline
GT and I first discussed his homework assignment involving the analyzing of two poems from the GOOD POEMS book. GT did a nice job. We then discussed two examples of two different types of poems. The "Where I'm From" and the "Untitled" vignette are models of two different types of poems GT can draft. I wanted to provide him with some structure. He will create those and decide on a couple of songs/poems of his own. He will draft one for homework tonight. We ended the session by completing the application activities to the vocabulary lesson.

I shared with GT several poems from the book. We discussed and analyzed them. GT did an excellent job of interpreting them and explaining the theme of each poem. He will choose three to four from this collection for homework, and he will be prepared to share them in class tomorrow. We also discussed GT creatively writing some poems/ song lyrics as his final project for this unit. We then began a new unit in the vocabulary book. I introduced the words. We then began completing the application activities that follow the new words.
