PJ is mastering color theory! He is self-directed in his color exploration. He completed a chart of tints and shades of red. Then he started an optical illusion project using wavy lines and alternating colors to give the illusion of 3-D tubes moving on a 2-D surface. PJ has been focused and is doing quite well.

Due to inclement weather, students were inside and read together "Dog Man" book. Also, they played educational games for the remainder of this class period.

The teacher presented a PowerPoint showing children expressing different emotions. The teacher introduced each emotion in Spanish, and the students repeated after her. Afterwards, the teacher handed out flashcards, and the students identified the emotions the teacher was mimicking. Next, the students played a memory game, saying the emotion in Spanish each time they made a match. To conclude, the students completed a worksheet where they described how they felt using the emotions they learned in class today.

Nico worked on using vocabulary words in context. He read a reading comprehension story "Up, Up, and Away," and answered comprehension questions pertaining to the story. We discussed the setting, the characters, and the problems that the main character had in his literature book, "The Indian in the Cupboard."

Saskiia completed a spelling lesson. We worked on short a words. We practiced making CVC words. She worked on the (at), (an), (ag), (ap) word families.

Teddy took his spelling test. He completed several activities using CVC words, put together words for the (It) word family, made a word graph using sight words, read and made CVC words, made sentences by putting words in the correct order, wrote sight words: like, I, he, can, and took a short (i) reading comprehension test. He read and explained the story details for all 4 of his reading comprehension stories.

Libby took her spelling test. She read a story about "Jack the Cat." She recognized, discussed, and answered questions about the story details in "Jack the Cat." She completed several activities using and writing sentences.
